Our main responsibility is for vegetation fires. There is a wealth of knowledge and experience amongst the leadership, which is often sought after during the fire season. There are six officers (due to Tasfire policy, the last two officers are known as Leading Firefighters) and seventeen members.

Thursday training nights provide members with experience and practical skills required. Often more advanced training can be provided by Tas Fire, they use volunteer training instructors (VTI's), which are skilled in certain fields and pass on their knowledge.

Depending on the time of year, our trainings involve anything from hazard reductions or cleaning the vehicles and station. Due to our non structural capabilities at this stage our training can be limited, but we endeavour to make them as enjoyable as possible.

Our brigade has two fire appliances.

1. Wellington 5.1 - Toyota Landcruiser 4WD

2. Wellington 3.1 - Isuzu Duel Cab Heavy Tanker

Wellington Fire Brigade's primary resposibility is within the foothills of Mt Wellington, behind the municipality of Glenorchy.
